Algérie Ferries Resumes Annaba-Marseille Route Starting June 19, 2025

After a months-long suspension, Algérie Ferries has officially announced the resumption of the Annaba-Marseille maritime route, with the first crossing set for Thursday, June 19, 2025. The decision revives a crucial transportation link between eastern Algeria and southern France, especially valued by the Algerian diaspora and frequent travelers.

The announcement was made via a video posted on Algérie Ferries’ official Facebook page, sparking excitement among Algerians in France and other regular users of this route. The service had been suspended in December 2024, giving priority to the Skikda-Marseille line. The closure had drawn criticism from travelers in eastern Algeria who were forced to use less convenient departure points.

The reinstatement of the Annaba-Marseille route is not only practical but also symbolic. It reestablishes the port of Annaba as a key international gateway and caters to increasing demand during the busy summer season. The move is seen as a response to user feedback and part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance competitiveness and service quality.

According to company representatives, the decision reflects an effort to modernize Algérie Ferries’ services, boost customer satisfaction, and reinvigorate the maritime transport sector after challenges related to the pandemic. Importantly, the Skikda-Marseille route will continue to operate in parallel, offering passengers more travel options and easing congestion at the ports.

The relaunch of the Annaba-Marseille route underscores Algérie Ferries’ commitment to reconnecting Algeria with its diaspora and regional partners. More than a route revival, it signals a renewed focus on service, flexibility, and strategic expansion in the Mediterranean.
