BLS Oran Tightens Visa Renewal Rules for Certain Applicants Starting February 2026

The visa application center BLS International in Oran has announced stricter document requirements for visa renewal applications in specific categories, effective February 1, 2026, aiming to improve traceability and verification.

New Rules for Visa Renewals at BLS Oran

BLS International, which handles visa applications on behalf of Spanish consular authorities in Oran, has issued an important notice affecting applicants in categories Oran 2, Oran 3, and Oran 4.

Until now, applicants renewing their visas were often required to present only their current passport, provided the information was valid. Starting February 1, 2026, this will no longer be sufficient in certain cases.

The center now requires full traceability of previous visas, especially when the last Spanish visa justifying eligibility does not appear in the current passport.

Mandatory Documents as of February 1, 2026

According to BLS International, applicants in Oran 2, Oran 3, and Oran 4 must submit additional documents if their last Spanish visa is not visible in their current passport.

The following will be mandatory:

  • A complete copy of the old passport, including all pages from first to last

  • A clear and legible copy of the last Schengen visa issued by Spain that serves as the basis for the renewal request

“In this specific case, the applicant must submit a complete copy of the old passport, including a copy of the last Schengen visa issued by Spain that is the subject of the renewal application,” BLS stated.

Risk of Rejection for Incomplete Applications

BLS International warned that any application failing to meet this new traceability requirement will be automatically rejected.

“The absence of these documents may result in the consulate refusing the visa application. Applicants are advised to carefully check that their application is complete before coming to the center,” the press release emphasized.

Why Is This Measure Being Introduced?

The new directive is intended to facilitate the work of consular services by simplifying the verification process. Providing a complete travel and visa history allows consulates to confirm eligibility for renewal categories more efficiently and may help applicants obtain longer-term visas.

What Applicants Should Do Before Their Appointment

Applicants are strongly advised to prepare in advance by taking the following steps:

  • Verify your category and ensure your appointment falls under Oran 2, Oran 3, or Oran 4

  • Prepare all copies ahead of time and avoid relying on last-minute photocopying services

  • Confirm that the previous Spanish visa you are presenting is the one that qualifies you for the renewal category

With these new requirements, BLS International in Oran is reinforcing document checks for visa renewals. Applicants who prepare thoroughly and ensure full visa traceability will avoid delays or outright rejection once the new rules take effect on February 1, 2026.
