President Tebboune Awards South African President Ramaphosa Algeria’s Highest Honor

Algiers — President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has announced the decision to bestow the National Order of Merit, with the rank of Athir, on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during his state visit to Algeria.


The presidency issued a statement highlighting the reasons for this prestigious recognition, stating:


“On the occasion of the state visit of the President of the Republic of South Africa to Algeria, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has decided to confer the National Order of Merit, with the rank of Athir, on his counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa. This is in recognition of his high personal character, the efforts of the South African government, and the solidarity of its people in defending shared human values in international forums.”

This honor underscores Algeria’s appreciation of South Africa’s continued support for global justice and human rights, as well as the enduring partnership between the two nations in addressing key international issues.
