Algeria Launches Committee to Resolve Agricultural Land Issues

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Youssef Cherfa, officially inaugurated the National Committee for the Regularization of Agricultural Property on Monday. The ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Secretary General of the National Union of Algerian Peasants (UPA), the President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, directors of the Bureau for the Development of Industrial Agriculture in Desert Lands, the National Bureau of Agricultural Lands, the Director General of National Property, and executives from related sectors.


According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the committee comprises all stakeholders and partners involved in the management of agricultural property. Its primary mission is to organize workshops to discuss and develop mechanisms for resolving issues related to agricultural real estate. These workshops aim to create a practical roadmap to address pending cases and regularize the status of current investors.


Boosting Food Security and Economic Diversification


The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity and support the national economy. By regularizing agricultural property, the government seeks to empower investors, optimize land use, and achieve food security goals.


“The settlement of agricultural property issues is crucial for enhancing the productive capacities of investors and achieving economic diversification,” stated the Ministry.

The committee will also focus on creating sustainable solutions to streamline the management of agricultural land, ensuring that it aligns with national development objectives.
