ALGIERS- A delegation from the government of Shaanxi province has been in Algiers for a few days to explore cooperation and partnership projects between Algeria and China, taking advantage of the momentum created by the visit to China last July by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his meeting with the Chinese President, Xi Jinping.

The aim of the visit by the Chinese delegation is to "implement the important consensus" between the heads of state of the two countries in order to "further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Algeria at local level", and to enable bilateral cooperation "to achieve new results", said the Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in this province, Liu Qiang, at a press conference held at the headquarters of the Chinese embassy in Algiers.

Mr Liu Qiang also recalled the historic relations between Algeria and China, linked by a comprehensive strategic partnership, and a commitment by the presidents of the two countries "to deepen cooperation within the framework of the vision of a 'New Algeria' and the 'Belt and Road' initiative", particularly in the fields of automobile manufacturing, aerospace, agriculture, culture and tourism.

Algeria and China "are engaged in mutually beneficial cooperation in many fields and have become strategic partners", stressed the Chinese official, calling on Algerian businessmen and industrialists to create cooperation projects and forge partnerships in this province, once the starting point of the Silk Road.

Situated in the center of China, this province has vast agricultural resources, a modern agri-food industry and a university specializing in agricultural research.

One of the main cradles of Chinese civilization, Shaanxi is a veritable hub of scientific and technological research, with over 110 higher education establishments and more than 1,500 scientific research institutions of various types, which have facilitated the emergence of a veritable high-tech industry.

It also hosts major exhibitions such as the Silk Road International Exhibition, the Euro-Asian Economic Forum, the Agricultural High-Tech Fair and the Shaanxi World Business Conference.

The Chinese delegation visiting Algeria is banking on exploiting these assets to create business opportunities for both countries through a win-win partnership.
