On May 20, SARL Bellat et Frères, a prominent Algerian meat processing company, secured an international contract worth $1.2 million to export animal proteins to Bangladesh. This deal strengthens Algeria’s position in the global agri-food export market.
The export contract, finalized with Bangladesh’s Ashta company, was signed by Lakhdar Bellat, CEO of SARL Bellat et Frères, and Moshref Hossain, CEO of Ashta, with Kamel Rezig, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, present at the signing. The deal is expected to increase the Algerian company’s annual export revenue to $3.5 million. The sector encompasses breeding, processing, and distribution of animal products, ensuring a steady supply of animal proteins for both human and animal consumption. Bellat is widely recognized for its production of cachir, smoked roast pâtés, and other meat products.
This new agreement highlights the ongoing expansion of Algerian agricultural and agri-food exports, especially within the animal protein sector. As the global demand for high-quality animal proteins rises, Bellat's growth and success in international markets provide a solid foundation for further expansion.
