Chinese car manufacturer Jetour has confirmed plans to begin vehicle assembly in Algeria by the end of 2025. The project will be based at the former KIA factory in Batna, marking a significant step in revitalizing the country's automotive sector. This initiative, driven by a Sino-Algerian partnership, aims to reduce import dependency and stimulate local industry growth.
Jetour's collaboration with Algeria's state-run Fondal and support from national and local authorities signify a major boost for the country's automotive production. The plant, set to open in Batna by the close of 2025, will focus on producing a variety of models tailored to local demand. Jetour has already begun a technical assessment of the existing infrastructure and is planning to adapt the site to meet production goals. A range of vehicles is expected to be manufactured, with the aim to achieve 100% local production by the end of 2025.
The return of automobile manufacturing to Algeria's soil reflects the government’s industrial strategy to foster sustainable, local economic growth. The Batna plant's reopening is not only a business opportunity but also a symbol of economic revival, job creation, and reduced reliance on foreign car imports.
