Sonelgaz CEO Mourad Ajal Meets World Bank Vice President to Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

Sonelgaz CEO Mourad Ajal met with Ousmane Dion, Vice President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, on Sunday to explore ways to enhance cooperation between the two organizations. The meeting highlighted opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy and regional energy projects.


In a statement, the Sonelgaz Directorate revealed that Dion commended Sonelgaz's outstanding performance during the summer of 2024. Despite record-breaking temperatures, Sonelgaz was one of the few energy companies worldwide that successfully maintained uninterrupted service, a feat praised by the international financial community.


Dion expressed the World Bank’s strong interest in forging a long-term partnership with Sonelgaz, focusing on innovative and sustainable energy solutions. Key areas of interest include renewable energy projects, particularly solar power production, and the ambitious North African Interconnected Grid initiative.


CEO Mourad Ajal underscored Sonelgaz’s economic potential and its leadership in energy, training, manufacturing, and renewable energy sectors. He also highlighted the company's achievements in exports, positioning Sonelgaz as a major player in regional and global energy markets.


This meeting reflects Sonelgaz’s commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives and strengthening Algeria's position in the global energy landscape.
