The National Bank of Algeria (BNA) has issued an urgent warning to the public about a fake online message promising a 52,000 DA “government subsidy,” stressing that the offer is fraudulent and not linked to the bank.
The BNA released a statement this Monday denying any connection to a fraudulent message circulating online that claims participants can receive 52,000 Algerian Dinars by completing a fake questionnaire titled “BNA – Government Subsidy.”
The bank emphasized that it never requests personal data or participation in surveys in exchange for money or prizes. Any such requests are signs of a scam attempt.
Citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution amid a surge in cyber fraud across Algeria. The BNA reminded the public that official information is only published on its verified social media pages and its official website.
According to cybersecurity experts, over half of fraud cases in Algeria now occur online. Criminals often use phishing tactics, clone legitimate websites, and send fake offers through WhatsApp or social networks to steal users’ financial data.
Recent scams have impersonated national institutions and promised fake fuel vouchers or government bonuses to lure victims into sharing sensitive details.
The BNA reiterates that vigilance is the best protection against cybercrime and urges citizens to verify all digital communications before taking action.
