President Tebboune Expresses Solidarity with Qatar at Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune sent a message to the Arab-Islamic emergency summit in Doha on Monday, affirming Algeria’s unwavering support for Qatar against Israeli aggression, delivered on his behalf by Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.

President Tebboune emphasized that the recent Israeli attack on Qatar is not an isolated act but a direct assault on the entire Arab-Muslim world. He stressed that collective security is indivisible and that aggression against one state endangers the stability of all.

In his statement, Tebboune declared Algeria’s full backing for Qatar’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the protection of its citizens. He noted that Algeria will stand by any decision taken by Qatar’s leadership in response to the aggression.

Escalating Israeli aggression in the region

The president warned that Israel’s actions, including systematic violations of international law and the UN Charter, have become the greatest threat to peace and security in the Middle East and beyond.

He recalled that Israel has attacked five countries this year alone—Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran, and now Qatar—while continuing its military operations in Gaza. He added that these policies are designed to impose hegemony and instability across the region.

Algeria’s role at the UN Security Council

Tebboune also highlighted Algeria’s initiative in convening a UN Security Council meeting to address the aggression against Qatar. The meeting, he said, was marked by strong solidarity and support for Qatar from the majority of member states.

This latest stance further strengthens the ties between Algeria and Qatar, which were recently reaffirmed ahead of the emergency summit. Read more here about how Algeria and Qatar reaffirmed their strong ties before the Doha meeting.

President Tebboune concluded that the Arab-Islamic world must act decisively at this critical juncture, transforming international awareness into collective action to restore justice and stability in the region.
